Job Summary:

Full time, tenure-track faculty position within the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department.

If you would like to be a part of a professional, collaborative team devoted to making a significant and lasting impact on the lives of young engineers, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Ohio Northern University invites you to apply for a tenure track faculty position to begin August 13, 2018. The candidate’s application letter should specifically address how the candidate meets the stated needs of our position within our undergraduate serving institution. Candidates should be committed to advancing the knowledge and practice of engineering pedagogy. Construction is expected to commence this spring on a new, 105,000 sq.ft. building for the College of Engineering to accommodate growth and allow more opportunities for high-impact learning. ONU is part of the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network and is committed to instilling the entrepreneurial mindset in our undergraduate engineering students.

The appointment may be made at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Principal Responsibilities:

Teaching of introductory, college-wide courses (such as Introduction to Engineering, Statics, Strength of Material, etc.) as well as upper-level civil engineering courses is expected.
Expectations include advising students as well as actively pursuing scholarly research and professional development opportunities.

Required Skills:

The applicant must be committed to teaching excellence in undergraduate education and must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Candidates with a specialty from all aspects of civil engineering are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:

ABD in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Engineering Education (with a prior degree in civil engineering).

Preferred Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Engineering Education (with a prior degree in civil engineering) is preferred. Degree requirements must be completed before the date of employment. Industry experience, teaching experience, professional licensure, and an ability to teach soil mechanics and surveying will be viewed favorably.
